The children's ward comprises of a 21 bedded inpatient unit, 8 bedded day case unit. Provides nursing care for children aged between 0 to 16 yrs of age (in secondary education) with a variety of medical, surgical, orthopaedic, ENT, dental and gynaecological problems. On the unit we are able to provide care for children and young people requiring a higher dependency of care, with a resuscitation and stabilisation area. Referral route: Referrals received from GPs, Community Doctors, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Community Nurses, Therapists, Educational Psychologists, community midwives, and social care. Open to self referrals Transition arrangements: Medical care will revert to the GP once the episode is completed however a period of 'open access' is given to specific children. Transitional arrangements in place for children with diabetes and epilepsy.
