Annual health checks for people with learning disabilities

Adults and young people aged 14 or above with a learning disability can have an annual health check with their GP.

This is on offer at most GP Practices in Derbyshire and the practice will invite the young person for the check each year, subject to their records being up to date. If this hasn't happened, you can contact them and ask for an appointment.

The health check can be a good way of getting used to visiting the GP, talking about any concerns and looking ahead to what might need to be put in place as the young person approaches adulthood.

You can find out more about the learning disabilities health check (opens in a new window) on the NHS Choices website.
