Early help services

Multi-agency teams (MATs) are an early help service located in towns around Derbyshire employing staff from a variety of backgrounds.

Our aim is to provide support at the earliest opportunity to young people and their families in a person-centred manner by either our staff or colleagues from other appropriate agencies. Together we will agree a support plan which is reviewed regularly to see if the support on offer is making a difference.

Multi-agency teams include family resource workers, youth workers, education welfare officers, careers and personal advisers and children's centre staff.

Examples of our services include:

  • supporting your family with parenting advice, relationship difficulties and challenging behaviour of children
  • supporting your family if there are issues with your child's attendance at school
  • supporting young people to plan their next steps after school e.g. sixth form, college, apprenticeship training or employment
  • supporting young people not in education, employment or training (NEET)
  • supporting your child's health and development through our local children's centres (aged 0-5 years)
  • supporting children with additional needs to ensure that proper support is in place
  • introducing children and young people to youth activities to build friendships, boost their confidence and self esteem

Who can use our services?

Families who have children aged between 0-19 years old and up to 25 years for a disabled child or young person.

Which other organisations do we work with?

Schools, housing, GPs and other health services, police and voluntary organisations.

Our multi-agency teams, children centres and family support centres hold the national Customer Service Excellence (CSE) award which is presented to organisations that demonstrate they focus services on the individual needs of users and their preferences; we are very proud to have achieved this.
