Chapel-En-Le-Frith High School

Chapel-en-le-Frith High School is an enhanced resource school and the Learning Support Department aims for each student to realise his or her potential within an enriched, inclusive community. We provide a graduated response for students with Special Educational Needs, which includes a wide range of strategies and a continuum of provision, in a safe and friendly environment.

In the mainstream setting we aim to meet the needs of all students and ensure that they make the best progress of which they are capable. We offer some small group teaching for students who need to improve their basic literacy and numeracy skills. We have experience of meeting the needs of students with disabilities and the building is fully accessible.

Our Enhanced Resource facility is a special provision which caters for students with moderate learning difficulties who are unable to access a mainstream curriculum. Students are taught in small groups by specialist teachers. Some students will also attend mainstream lessons according to ability, interest and need. All children attend mainstream tutor groups, with support if necessary, and children are fully included in the life of the school. The classrooms are located within the main school building and all children use the same playground and other school facilities. The setting is not suitable for students with extreme behaviours, students working above National Curriculum level 3, nor for those who would find a normal busy secondary school environment challenging.

The normal area of a school is the geographic area which it serves and the school area you fall into is based on your permanent home address. Most Derbyshire schools serve a specific area but in some cases you might live in an area for more than one school.
