Add to favourites Back to the A-Z list Clavin, Katie I am a qualified teacher who has taught for 9 years, all of which have been spent in the Early Years age group. I have young children and I decided that now was the right time for me to leave teaching and set up my own Early Years setting and that's how Small Oaks childcare was born. Early years is my passion and I thrive on creating a stimulating, fun and exciting learning environment, but most importantly one in which your child will be happy and safe. I love seeing children grow and learn about the world around them, particularly through outdoor learning and Forest Schools activities. In 2015 I trained as a Forest Schools leader and I am now a qualified Level 3 Forest Schools Practitioner. I have led Forest Schools with children aged 4-11 within a Primary School since qualifying in 2015. I have Paediatric first aid training and designated safeguarding lead training. We have recently moved into a new house which we have renovated to include a large playroom, separate to our main house. It is bright and airy and a fantastic space including many different areas such as a designated baby area, a small world/role play area, a reading garden and a mark making area. The children also have their meals and sleeps in this room. There is a separate cloakroom and toilets and also a kitchen area for preparing meals. Small Oaks has a large garden area, which the children will have daily access to. There is space for riding trikes, scooters and ride on vehicles and also a large lawn area for playing. The garden also contains a mud kitchen, music area and playhouse to promote imaginative play. Each child has a highly personalised plan of activities to develop them in all areas. They will be given next steps, relevant to their developmental stage, which will be shared with yourselves as parents/carers. You will receive regular feedback and updates on your child's learning and development via the online system Tapestry. This will enable you to regularly share your child's day and achievements with them. You are also able to add observations of what your child has done at home so that we can create a holistic view of your child's development.
