Adult care services

Adult care provide a number of universal services that are available to all Derbyshire residents. These include:

Information and advice

Information about the services that are available to support you in Derbyshire can be found on the Derbyshire County Council website (opens in a new window). Alternatively we have a range of leaflets that explain our services. These can be downloaded or ordered from the Derbyshire County Council website (opens in a new window) or can be requested from Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190.

Call Derbyshire can give advice about the services available or direct you to brokerage or other organisations that may be able to help maintain your independence.

Our brokerage team can be contacted by phone on 01629 537763. They can help you to find suitable local services in your area to meet your particular needs. The brokerage team can help self-funders or people with a personal budget from Adult Care.

Welfare Rights

The welfare benefits services will help people to get all the benefits and support that they are entitled to. You can contact the service on 01629 531535 or email

Assessment and eligibility

If you require an assessment to determine your eligibility for funded statutory Adult Care services, this can be arranged by Call Derbyshire, tel: 01629 533190. An assessment (opens in a new window) will be carried out by an Adult Care worker in the area where you live. They will look at your detailed needs and will work with you and your carers to determine if you are eligible for statutory services under the national eligibility criteria (opens in a new window) detailed in the Care Act to look at how your needs can be met.

Services Available

Adult Care offers a wide range of care and support services. Some of these are provided directly by Derbyshire County Council while others are commissioned by the department from the independent sector. Services include:

  • Residential care
  • Extra care housing and supported housing
  • Day opportunities
  • Home care
  • Re-ablement
  • Carers' support services
  • Equipment and adaptations.

If you are assessed as having eligible needs, a support plan will be developed with you detailing the outcomes you wish to achieve and a budget will be allocated that can be used to purchase the services required. You may need to contribute to your care costs (opens in a new window).
